Our History

Catholic Social Services of Wayne County (CSSWC) has a long history of providing a variety of human services to the Detroit Metropolitan community. The agency was established in 1946 as the Catholic Family Center for the purpose of providing family social services. Over the years, new services evolved in response to demonstrated community needs. The agency’s name was officially changed to Catholic Social Services of Wayne County in 1957 to more accurately reflect the diversity of social services offered.
